Be Inspired: Seniors Festival Program Now Out

  • The 2009 Victorian Seniors Festival offers seniors in our local area the opportunity to get involved more than ever before, local MP for Cranbourne, Jude Perera said today.

  • "There are a range of fantastic activities and events being held around our local area," said Mr Perera.

  • "I encourage all seniors, their families and friends to participate."

  • Now in its 27th year, Victorian Seniors Festival, which runs from October 4 to 11, includes more than 1000 free and low cost events across metropolitan Melbourne and regional and rural Victoria.

  • "The Brumby Labor Government is proud to present the Victorian Seniors Festival to celebrate the ongoing contribution seniors make to our community", Minister for Senior Victorians, Lisa Neville, said.

  • The Brumby Labor Government is again supporting the week-long celebration by providing all Victorian Seniors Card holders with travel free on regional bus services and the metropolitan public transport network from October 4 to 11.

  • Seniors card holder can also take advantage of free travel on V/Line rail and coach services on October 6, 7, 8, 10, and 11 October.

  • Seniors will find plenty to do in their local area or head to Melbourne to partake in a range of activities.

  • The Festival Hub in the Lower Melbourne Town Hall will be open daily from 10am to 4.30pm from October 4 to 11. Visitors can relax with a free tea or coffee, enjoy an eclectic program of entertainment and find Festival information.

  • The 2009 Victorian Seniors Festival Events Program lists all the major events in metropolitan Melbourne and is available from Monday 17th of August at all Coles and Bi Lo supermarkets, local councils, libraries and neighbourhood houses.
