Ballarto Road, Skye to receive safety upgrade

  • Ballarto Road, Skye will receive a safety upgrade, State Member for Cranbourne District, Jude Perera MP announced today.

  • "The Brumby Government is taking action to improve Victoria's road network and this upgrade will provide important safety benefits for our local community," Mr Perera said.

  • "The $201,000 works will be used to install a left turn deceleration lane for traffic heading east on Ballarto Road to access the western driveway into Skye Primary School.

  • "This will increase safety for the many parents entering the school each morning and afternoon.

  • "The addition of the left lane will allow turning vehicles to slow down and this will reduce the likelihood of rear end crashes at this site."

  • "Projects such as this one are vital for local communities, especially when it is aimed at increasing safety for school children.

  • "We understand that people are concerned about safety on Victorian roads, that's why the Brumby Government is taking action to improve community safety and drive down the road toll.

  • "Our investments have helped reduce the road toll by 31 per cent since 2001, resulting in Victoria achieving its lowest toll on record last year.

  • "We know there is more to be done to further reduce the burden of road trauma on our community, which is why our arrive alive strategy aims to drive down the record low road toll by a further 30 per cent."
