Road safety improvement works on Ballarto Road have been completed, State Member for Cranbourne District, Jude Perera MP announced today.
"The Brumby Government is taking action to improve Victoria's road network and this upgrade will provide important safety benefits for our local community," Mr Perera said.
"The $201,000 works were carried out to install a left turn deceleration lane for traffic heading east on Ballarto Road to access the western driveway into Skye Primary School.
"These improvements will increase safety for the many parents entering the school each morning and afternoon.
"The addition of the left lane will allow turning vehicles to slow down and will reduce the likelihood of rear end crashes at this site."
"I'm pleased to say that the works have been completed prior to school resuming, minimising disruption to the school."
Mr Perera added, " I congratulate Skye Primary Principal and members from the School Council who have worked with me in delivering this safety initiative."
"We understand that people are concerned about safety on Victorian roads, that's why the Brumby Government is taking action to improve community safety and drive down the road toll."
"The State Government has listened to concerns from the school and general community, and has taken action to improve road safety at this site," Mr Perera said.
